This is a little spot on the Web where I put stuff from time to time. Due to the need to update my host's IIS a few things have gone a little wrong, so I'm scrapping it, and starting over with this page. Hopefully, with a little organization, the site will evolve from this point rather than starting over from scratch next time around. With that in mind, I'll launch this as v1.0.0. Enjoy.

C. Jensen

You may or may not be wondering why I'm running my blog under C. Jensen. It's a short story that I find interesting, and you may or may not as well. A few years ago, more specifically the first 50% of the 1800's, there lived a man named Christen Jensen. I don't know much about him, really, beyond the fact that he was my great, great, great grandfather. Although historically in Scandinavia, patronymic names were common, at this period in time it was not the legal practice for a father to pass his name on to his sons and daughters in that way. Christen had two sons, both of whom chose to take their father's name, and go by the surname Christensen, in spite of the fact that legally their name was Jensen. During the 1860's, these sons came to America and since that time our family name has been Christensen. It struck me as interesting that before coming to America the legal family name was Jensen, but the sons stayed with tradition and took their father's name. It also interests me that these sons were the last in a very long recorded history who took their father's name as their surname. I chose to start these blogs using the name of the person who was at the juncture of those changes. There you have it.
